What is the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell Calendar?

Many people with an interest in the Mayan calendar have at some point or another come in contact with the so-called Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar, a calendar that was created in the early 1990’s by José and Lloydine Argüelles. It is common that people who have been taught this calendar at one point or another ask the question: “Why are there two different Mayan calendars?” and the purpose of this article is to provide a perspective on this, which most likely is different from what teachers of the Dreamspell will give themselves.

The proponents of Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar claim that this is a female, natural and Mayan calendar and that it has such advantages that we should replace the Gregorian calendar with it. We will here examine these claims and explain how and why this calendar was created especially as related to the traditional Mayan calendar. The height of popularity of the Dreamspell calendar may now be gone. Yet, it remains important to create clarity about its origin and nature, especially if we now are to develop a calendar based on the Mayan that serves the evolution of humanity in a better way.

I will then here first briefly outline the structure of the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar: This calendar system is a combination of thirteen so-called “moon” periods of 28 days, every year taking their beginning on July 26. Thirteen moons of 28 days amounts to a total of 364 days to which one day, the “day-out-of-time” has been added on July 25. This compensates for the fact that the solar year of our planet is actually 365+ days. Combined with these thirteen moons is then the Dreamspell calendar, a so-called tzolkin count. This calendar is a modification of the traditional Mayan tzolkin count of 260 combinations of twenty day-signs (or glyphs) with thirteen numbers. Based on the Dreamspell tzolkin count, the adherents are assigned “galactic signatures” that purportedly define their identities, qualities and fates or at least aspects of those. Every four years, when there is a leap day in the Gregorian calendar on February 29, the Dreamspell count is interrupted and makes a jump in its flow as this day is given no tzolkin energy. In addition to this basic structure, the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar includes a number of cycles of lesser importance. These are however created against the background of the cycles outlined above and need not be detailed here. Here we will instead look more closely at the basic structure of this calendar and scrutinize the claims that it is: 1/ female, 2/natural and 3/ Mayan, since it is claimed that these are its strong points compared to other calendars.

Claim 1: The Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is a female calendar.

The claim that the Thirteen Moon calendar would be a female calendar is based on the fact that modern medicine often gives 28 days as a rule of thumb for the durations of the female cycles of ovulation and menstruation. It seems however that the proponents of the Thirteen Moon calendar have not really examined if this claim is true. To begin with, each woman in fertile age has an individual cycle with a duration that may vary between 22 and 31 days, which she often keeps a calendar of herself. Already for this reason it is somewhat questionable if an abstract ideal of a 28-day cycle codified in a general calendar serves a good purpose. Moreover, considering that few women would have periods starting at the same time as the thirteen moons it would seem that the number of women whose cycles actually follow this calendar would be very small, maybe less than one per cent.

More profoundly problematic is the fact that the 28-day rule of thumb of modern medicine is not the actual natural cycle of women. Studies performed in the 1950’s with hundreds of thousands of women showed that their cycles instead on average are 29.5 days long. The reason the female cycles have this duration is that they are connected to the full moon cycle of 29.52 days. To confirm these connections studies were performed in the 1960’s with Chinese women living without electrical lights that showed not only that their cycles on average are 29.5 days, but also that their excretion of hydroxymelatonin, originating from the melatonin of the light-sensitive pineal gland, occurred in response to the light of the full-moon. This connection between the female and the full moon is sometimes expressed in ancient myths, but may be too magical for modern medicine to accept and so it has created the idea of a 28-day cycle. Today many women may also in fact have shorter cycles than 29.5 days. This is because of the current prevalence of electric lights (and computers) in the night time (having the same effect as the full moon) as well as the spread of hormone disruptors (such as contraceptive pills) that have perturbed the connections of the female cycles with the full moon. Yet, these are hardly factors that can be qualified as female or natural. It can be concluded that the Thirteen Moon calendar is not a female calendar, despite the rhetoric of its adherents. If anything, this calendar tends to alienate women from their natural connection to the full moon cycle and replace it with a purely abstract mathematical cycle of 28 days. The ancient Maya did not follow a 28 day cycle, but one that alternated between 29 and 30 days to create an average of 29.5 consistent with the natural cycle of women.

Claim 2: The Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is a natural calendar.

The claim that the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is a natural calendar is a little bit more difficult to examine since it is not really clear what would be meant by natural time. If natural time is sacred metaphysical time like the Mayan, then as we shall see under Claim 3, the Dreamspell does not reflect this. Here we will instead scrutinize the claim that the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is a calendar that follows the seasons or astronomical cycles in a way that would make it natural. To argue that it is a natural calendar you can of course say that it has a set starting date in the solar year, July 26, based on which you can follow the passage of the seasons, but all calendars, including the Gregorian, that are based on the solar year allows for the same thing. In this regard July 26 does not seem to be preferable to or more natural than for instance January 1 or the spring equinox of March 21.

Why then has the July 26 date been chosen as a New Year’s Day for the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar? The origin of this date. It goes back to the cycle of following the solar year, the so-called Haab calendar of 365 days that was used in ancient times by the Maya. Since this cycle is shorter than the solar year of approximately 365.25 days, and the Maya did not use leap days, the beginning point of this Haab calendar would move one day in relation to the solar year every four years. Thus, prior to the arrival of the Europeans there was no set New Year’s Day for the Haab calendar.

It then so happened that as the Spanish conquered Yucatan in 1540 the beginning day of this Haab calendar had moved to the day that was July 16 in the Julian calendar (corresponding to July 26 in the Gregorian). Since from a European perspective, where the Julian leap day had been in use for a long time, a year with a moving starting point seemed irrational it seems that the decision was then made to fix this at July 26. Thus, in Relación de las cosas de Yucatán, written in 1566 by the infamous Bishop de Landa, the July 26 date is described as a New Year’s date of the Maya and also in the later Books of Chilam Balam (which José Argüelles quotes as his source). This means that ever since the conquest the starting day of the Haab no longer moved and in contrast to prior to the conquest it was frozen at July 26. De Landa, incidentally was the instigator of the burning of all Mayan books to prevent this people from continuing their traditions and not the least their calendrical culture. What then is “natural” about July 26 as a starting point for the Thirteen Moon year? What its adherents are really doing is celebrating the date when after the conquest, the Mayan Haab calendar came to an end. How can a calendar celebrating such an event be called Mayan?

There is nothing astronomically natural with the 28-day “moon” either. The 28-day period is different both from the full moon cycle of 29.5 days and from the orbital period of the Earth’s moon of 27.3 days. The 28-day cycle thus has no biological or astronomical meaning and is merely an artificial mathematical number without any relationship to the cycles of nature. Moreover, the New Year’s Day of the Thirteen Moon calendar was set as the date when the Mayan Haab calendar was frozen and adapted to the European calendars. In conclusion, there is nothing natural about the Thirteen Moon calendar except for in the rhetoric of its followers.

Claim 3: The Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is the Mayan Calendar.

Initially, in the early 1990’s, the Dreamspell calendar was often presented as if it were the Mayan calendar, but as it later became more widely known that the living Maya were following a sacred calendar tradition that went back thousands of years and was different from that of the Dreamspell, this statement was sometimes corrected. Yet, since the latter still had a pretense of being a Mayan calendar it came mostly to go by the name of the Mayan Dreamspell calendar. Presumably this was because it uses the day signs and numbers of the true Mayan calendar although it assigns those to different dates. The tzolkin count used by the Quiche-Maya and most Mayan peoples today is however the only one that goes back to ancient times and can be called the true count. Only the ancients were in a full resonance with the shifts points of creation that the tzolkin is a reflection of. Purportedly, the new tzolkin count that it presented came out of a “New dispensation” of divine knowledge. Yet, it has never been explained by its creators what advantage the Dreamspell calendar would have compared to the true Mayan, or why this old tradition was simply ignored. Clearly, the Dreamspell count has never been followed by any traditional group of Maya, either ancient or present, and we shall now see why.

The most important difference between the sacred 260-day calendar of the Maya and the corresponding Dreamspell count is that the latter makes a jump every four years at the leap day of the Gregorian calendar. Hence, in the Dreamspell count the day of February 29 is given no energy, as if it was not part of the divine flow of time. This disruption is a very significant difference especially if the tzolkin is looked upon as a matrix of spiritual, metaphysical energies describing the unbroken underpinnings of this creation.

What ignoring the leap day means for the Dreamspell calendar is that all of its “galactic signatures” are subordinated to and determined by the Gregorian calendar. I will give a simple example to illustrate this fundamental fact: In the true uninterrupted Mayan tzolkin calendar someone who is born on March 1, 2012 (which is a Gregorian leap year) will have the tzolkin energy of 8 Chicchan (serpent). If on the other hand the preceding leap day of February 29 would have been ignored and jumped over in the tzolkin flow (which is what the Dreamspell does) that energy would instead have been 7 Kan (lizard). The consequences of ignoring the energy of the leap day then extend to all of the “galactic signatures” calculated according to the Dreamspell count so that they are all determined by the date that in the Gregorian calendar is the leap day. The Gregorian leap day is just a convention and could just as well have been September 31, 2013, in which case all the “galactic signatures” would have been different. Since the Gregorian leap day is a randomly chosen date, the Dreamspell dates are not in any sense sacred or inherently meaningful. In contrast to the true tzolkin they have no connection to the uninterrupted flow of creation energies going back to ancient times. Paradoxically then, despite the extensive rhetoric of the Dreamspell against the Gregorian calendar, this calendar has in fact replaced the sacred energies of the Mayan tzolkin with energies that are defined by the Gregorian calendar.

For this reason, it is simply absurd to talk about the Dreamspell “galactic signature” as Mayan or “another Mayan calendar”. To explain the falseness of the Dreamspell claim to be a Mayan calendar in fact means helping to preserve the true Mayan tzolkin to future generations. This point is even more important as in several countries the Dreamspell calendar has so totally come to overshadow the true tzolkin that people there do not even know that a true Mayan calendar exists.

None of the claims of the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar thus hold up against scrutiny. Underneath all of its anti-Gregorian rhetoric it is not what it portends to be. Its 28-day cycle is purely a mathematical abstraction, which denies the female connection to the full moon cycle. Its beginning date of July 26 reflects the suppression of the Mayan Haab and lacks a natural basis as does its 28-day cycle. Most importantly, its galactic signatures are determined by the Gregorian calendar and deny people their connection to the ancient flow of time of the Mayan tzolkin.

The Passing of the Creators of the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell Calendar and Possible Future Directions

The most controversial of the claims of the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar has always been that it is a Mayan calendar or even the Mayan calendar of our time. This is adamantly denied by Mayan elders and tradition keepers such as Don Alejandro Oxlaj (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1n_lpehsW4). The question must then be raised why the traditional Mayan tzolkin count was not used as the Dreamspell calendar was designed? Why was it altered in such a way that its day-signs and numbers as we now have seen became defined by the Gregorian calendar? Why was it deemed better to subordinate the Dreamspell tzolkin to the Gregorian calendar than to follow the true Mayan tzolkin? There seems to be a lead to answer this in the fact that the two creators in the system they developed had been given the energies 11 Chuen and 9 Ik, which correspond to the master numbers 11 and 22, totaling 33. It is known that José Argüelles regarded the number 33 as the key number of spiritual initiation and the two would sometimes sign their articles by “kin 11 and kin 22” to highlight this. This explanation to the Dreamspell count as being based on the birthdays of its creators exactly so as to give them the kin numbers 11 and 22 would explain why this count would not give an energy to the Gregorian leap day. Without making a jump at the leap day the two co-creators would not have been given these master numbers based on their birthdays.

Through my contacts with Lloydine Argüelles several years ago she made it clear that despite the fact that she was called a co-creator of this calendar, she did not actually know why the Mayan tzolkin was not followed in the Dreamspell. This means that José Argüelles was the only person who knew why the ancient Mayan tzolkin had been rejected and since he has passed away we will never know his motives for this with certainty. When he was confronted on the http://sacredroad.org/ web site with my suggestion that this happened in order to give its creators the master numbers 11 and 22, he neither denied it nor admitted it. He merely stated his view that there was no conflict between the two tzolkin counts.

If the above explanation to why the Dreamspell is different from the true Mayan calendar is the right one – and no other explanation has ever been given for this – we should not be surprised that outsiders may perceive this calendar as very ego-based. Hence, the “galactic signatures” serve as identities for its followers and also provide a sort of daily mantras like: “I empower in order to catalyze. Commanding energy, I seal the matrix of self-generation, With the overtone tone of radiance, I am guided by the power of accomplishment, I am a galactic activation portal enter me” This definition of tzolkin energies in terms of “I’s” is very different from how they are looked upon by the Maya as sacred energies of the divine. Given that the Ninth wave activated in 2011 is the one whose purpose it is to generate unity with the divine (which really is a pre-requisite for humans to generate unity with one another and nature), it may be expected that as this wave progresses, and to the extent people are able to connect with it, it will be increasingly difficult to uphold the Dreamspell calendar.

Before continuing we however need to look at the suggestion made by Josë Argüelles that there is no conflict between the two tzolkin counts. In my own view it is in practice impossible to follow two different tzolkin counts at the same time. To say for instance that a certain day is both Manik and Ix is like saying that a day in the common week is both Tuesday and Thursday. For someone who wants to keep his or her sanity such a statement is clearly not recommendable and in addition there is the ethical question of changing a several thousand years old Mayan tradition. It is better to be honest and recognize that there indeed is a conflict between the sacred Mayan tzolkin and the Dreamspell tzolkin whose energies are based on the Gregorian calendar. Given that the Dreamspell is based on the usurpation of the Mayan tzolkin by the Gregorian calendar, and honors the day that the Mayan Haab came to an end in 1540, the Dreamspell will in fact always be in conflict with the Mayan calendar, and is by its very nature divisive. It is entirely possible that the Dreamspell started out innocently as a game, but then its promoters should say so and not something else. What is dishonest, divisive and damaging to the spiritual heritage of our planet is when these teachers claim that the Dreamspell is a legitimate Mayan calendar. It is not. It also seems obvious that a calendar that is not fully transparent and explains how and why it was designed can never truly serve as a calendar of peace.

It then now seems natural to ask how the genius, who wrote The Mayan Factor and promoted the Harmonic Convergence came to develop such a calendar. One lead is something Argüelles himself shared about, namely the tragedy of the loss of his son Josh on October 28, 1987 was to him. People can lose their balance because of much smaller things and I want to speculate that he then lost faith in the divine and replaced this with a belief in himself as a prophet. Regardless of whether this explanation is true or not, it is just a fact that his work markedly changed direction at the time of the death of his son. Thus, while the Harmonic Convergence of August 16-17, 1987 was based on the true tzolkin (1 Imix and 2 Ik, the first two days in this count, respectively) the Dreamspell he developed later broke with this traditional calendar. Likewise, while The Mayan Factor emphasized the non-astronomical, metaphysical nature of the Mayan Calendar, the Thirteen Moon calendar instead had a physical basis. I was myself a great admirer of Argüelles work prior to 1988 and I think that he made an enormous contribution to the world by letting people know that the Mayan calendar existed. Yet, this does not justify that he presented a tzolkin he had invented himself as the Mayan calendar. Nor does it justify that he kept the origin of the tzolkin he had invented secret to everyone – including to his wife Lloydine, which does indicate that he did not want others to know of its origin.

The world need more and not less transparency and in the current situation I feel the best way of acknowledging his early contribution is to recognize that his later work with the Dreamspell is not consistent with his early work and certainly not with the only true Mayan tzolkin that has been used for 2500 years. Unfortunately, there were not many people who until the early nineties would be capable of seeing the discrepancy and support him in seeing this himself. Many people wanted a prophet to believe in rather than the true calendar itself.

Since we have seen that the Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell calendar is not female, natural or Mayan, and in many cases directly suppresses those very things, it may now instead be in its place to discuss what alternative there is to it in the future. This is all the more relevant, since after the activation of the Ninth Wave on March 9, 2011, a society that is more female, natural and Mayan and less leader-led will ultimately be generated. José Argüelles did admit towards the end of his life that there was a value in the Mayan calendar system of nine waves. Yet, he passed away in the very 1st day of the Ninth Wave on March 23, 2011 (1 Ahau in the true calendar, since it was morning in Australia). Also Lloydine Burris has now passed away (on May 16, 2014), on the 33rd day of the Ninth Wave. Possibly then there is a connection of these times of passing to the development of the Ninth Wave. Lloydine notably passed away on the day 8 Batz in the latter calendar. This is the day when the Mayan tzolkin calendar is celebrated by the Maya themselves in Guatemala and when the training of new day-keepers begins in a tradition that goes back thousands of years. It is open to interpretation, but maybe there is a message also in the energy of the day a person passes away and that she wanted to acknowledge the celebration of the true Mayan tzolkin on this very day.

Regardless, as the Ninth Wave has now been active since March 9, 2011 and we have gone through the very significant shift in the Mayan calendar on October 28, 2011 it seems that a calendar that reflects our inner shifts and helps us identify when we are experiencing unity consciousness would be of great value. For the reasons given above the Dreamspell calendar is not able to respond to what is needed from such a calendar today. The calendar of the future I believe instead must be based on the true Mayan calendar following the continuous stream of time energies emanating from the Source of creation, the divine. And yet, since we are now at a fundamentally new point in time, this ancient calendar system will have to be used in a new way, without falling back on the authorities of the past. It has to be used in such a way that it serves the spiritual transformation of each one of us into unity consciousness. To do so will however require that we have gained clarity and fully understand the meaning of the Mayan calendar. Part of this clarity, especially for coming generations, will have to come from understanding the kind of alternative calendars that were created before the shift. If this has been attained this article has served its purpose.

  1. Dear Mr. Calleman,
You know that the Dreamspell Calendar is a terrible mistake and it is our duty to explain this to the world!
Let us have a meeting about this item . The dreamspellcalendar is defenitly wrong and we can prove that! I am sure!
    I cannot waite.

    Best Greetings,
    Louis

    1. Yes, Argüelles made a terrible mistake and in a sense it may be so big that many have a hard time believing that he actually committed it. But maybe Dreamspell started out innocently, simply as a game, and then became a dogma and presented by its teachers and followers as a legitimate Mayan calendar. People yearning for a connection to the Mayan calendar would take Argüelles calendar seriously at a time when he commanded a lot of prestige and the real alternative was unknown. Then, he found himself captive of the false calendar he had created and there was no way he could retract. We will never know.
Today, Dreamspell leaders and their followers all over the world should however take responsibility themselves regardless of what the motives and intentions of its creators were. This means facing the truth squarely rather than just continuing the old personality cult, which truly belong to the old paradigm. We are living in a time when many are beginning to see the hidden agendas of society at large, but ironically when such things appear within alternative communities such as the Dreamspell many turn a blind eye and do not face it. It is however important to let newcomers know about the origin and nature of this calendar, so that they can make an informed choice about what they are getting in to.
To have a meeting to discuss the creation of a calendar of the future based on the true Mayan calendar sounds like a good idea. I think the time may also have come to start discussing a new world calendar without a hidden agenda. Let me know what you suggest.

      1. Thank you for this assessment of the 13 Moon/Dreamspell Calendar, Dr. Calleman.

Where can we access the “true” Mayan Calendar, along with the understanding needed to interpret and work with it in our daily lives? How might what you refer to as a potential “new world calendar” differ from the “true” Mayan Calendar?

  2. Very interesting indeed, even if I have never been interested in the “caledar” called Dreamspell. If it is not a Mayan Caledar it shouldn’t be called as such.
But as we all live in a world of illusion, does it really matter what illusion we follow?

    1. REALITY and, “Living in a world of ILLUSION” ::
The understanding of what this actually means is a very important one to be clear on, as it effects the way we live our Life.

“Living in a world of illusion” :: This reference is often used, and it is generally misunderstood – largely due to the way that certain “Absolute, or Advaita” spiritual teachings present the subject . . . which is ultimately ungrounding for people, creates an abstraction from living Life, and does a further dis-service by making it seem that our Life (here and now) is a throw-away event, which is not at all significant.

The inherent revelation in the experience of Cosmic Consciousness, Samadhi, or Oneness :: Here, we have a ‘direct experience’ of Life’s Absolute Nature, our self, and the Life we live AS the One and only Life ~ in which we might say that “Creator and Creation are One”. Here, the fact that everything (which is real) is the One Life and Sacred Nature, or substance, is revealed directly, and beyond the mind, as the Eternal Fact of Life, ItSelf and all Nature.

The illusion of this world is a context of duality, which is a context for our lesson of learning to live the Freedom and Divine Love which is our true Nature. Freedom is our very Nature, so naturally, there is an imperative running through Life, like a river ~ moving us toward the experience of ‘conscious freedom’ . . . BeCause Freedom, by it’s very Nature, cannot remain unconscious . . . and BeCause the ‘free choice’ is the choice of Divine Love, which is our Nature. Here, we fulfill the Noble Journey, by living Freedom and Divine Love AS Manifest–Life.

The Life of Freedom and Divine Love is the only REAL MANIFESTATION of LIFE, which is why this is the Eternal Nature. Every miracle on earth has already proven this fact.

Thank You, for your important part in Our Noble Journey!

Namaste, Wishing You All the Goodness of Life ~ You Are!

    2. it s not about the illusion we are caught in, it s about what constructs help the being armonise , there is a natural order and it helps to get back on a scale of consciousness wher one can have a closer look at the fundamental pilars that sustain life, so that we are not caught in the ilusion. For instance we breed the same air are body is 75 % water that implies we come from fire, water, earth and air and that we are a unity…

  3. Thank you for this comprehensive analysis, Dr. Calleman.

Where can we access the “true” Mayan Calandar, along with an understanding of how to interpret and use it in our daily lives?
How might a potential “new world calendar” [which you have proposed discussing] differ from the “true” Mayan Calendar?

    Bright Blessings, Joanne

  4. Hi Carl, Remember me, Stan and I published the Daily Guide to the Tzolkin Calendar, sold on Mayan Majix from 2007-2013. In my travels I did readings based on the traditional Tzolkin. I often ran into people who followed the Dreamspell and because of the confusion it created they were always asking me, “Which is right?”. Having no experience with Jose Argüelles or his calendar I would encourage them to ask themselves the question, what resonated more within them? Because it happened so often I decided to research Arguelles and his calendar. Although it may be deficient in the literal sense the impact his work had on raising awareness and as such opening hearts to a much bigger picture, basically laying the ground work for the global mind is to be celebrated. According to the Tzolkin (Jan.24, 1939) Jose Arguelles carried the energy of the Mayan deity Chicchan (Serpent) with the galactic intention represented by the number 10 (manifestation) in the galactic week of Cib. (kin 205). For me he did embody an undeniable life force energy free of time and space. Diaphainon (“that which shines through”) is what hallmarks our 4th dimensional integral time and space relationship. The mutation to this new structure of consciousness has been in process for sometime now, and “time anxiety”, a by product of our three dimensional world system and it’s spatialized rigidification, and the quantified motoricity of the machine and its lifelessness is still felt by many of us. To assist in the identification of the themes inherent in the birthing of a new aperspectival world Jean Gebser ( Ever Present Origin) gives a list of certain key terms crucial to this end: the whole, integrity, transparency, the spiritual (the Diaphainon), the supercession of the ego, the realization of timelessness, the realization of temporicity, the realization of the concept of time, the realization of time freedom (achronon), the disruption of the merely systematic, the inclusion of dynamics, the recognition of energy, the mastery of movement, the 4th demension, the supercession of patriarchy, the renunciation of dominance and power, the acquisition of intensity (defined as time), clarity (instead of mere wakefulness), and the transformation of the inceptual basis.
. Gebser, like most pioneers, found the use of language limiting in his attempt to share his crucial insights but nonetheless, used it with skill and creativity. As a result, he took the liberty of creating his own language. In the context of his overall theory, three terms stand out: eteology, systasis, and synairesis. These are important terms because they adequately describe his “methodology” even if they do not lend themselves well to average usage. To Gebser, what he was proposing through The Ever-Present Origin was not another philosophy but, rather, a new “eteology. In other words still: “The Greek word eteos means ‘true, real’; as an adverb, eteon means ‘in accord with truth, truly, really’ and comes from the root se:es, meaning ‘to be’. The difference comes with the understanding that a philosophy is another three-dimensional, rational system. An eteology, on the other hand: (M)ust replace philosophy just as philosophy once replaced myths. In the eteologemes, the eteon or being-in-truth comes to veracity or statement of truth, and the “wares” of guards or guards verity and conveys the “verition” which arises from the a-waring and imparting of truth. Eteology, then, is neither a mere ontology, that is, theory of being, nor is it a theory of existence. The dualistic question of being versus non-being which is commensurate only with the mental structure is superceded by eteology, together with the secularized question as to being, whose content–or more exactly whose vacuity–is nothing more than existence. Every eteologeme is a “verition,” and as such is valid only when it allows origin to become transparent in the present. To do this it must be formulated in such a way as to be free of ego, and this means not just free of subject but also free of object; only then does it sustain the verity of the whole. This has nothing to do with representation; only in philosophical thought can the world be represented; for the integral perception of truth, the world is pure statement, and thus “verition”
To put it bluntly, Gebser is proposing a whole new way of being and The Ever-Present Origin is specifically written from the viewpoint of this “verition.” It would seem that this is part of the reason why his work seems so cryptic and esoteric. In a very real sense, it requires a level of understanding yet to be experienced by the vast majority of people on the planet. From an outsider perspective, this stance would seem to be impractical and even arrogant. Yet, perhaps it is meant to be seen as a necessary variable in an attempt to push the evolutionary impulse that much further. Indeed, what if people like Gebser, by creating a new “space” where such thought-forms didn’t exist before, act as an attractor or even create a field that catalylizes or “pulls” the collective consciousness to emerge into that new way of being in the world?
Sorry Carl, I’ve just become so passionate about what I’ve been studying in Jean Gebser’s book I appreciate this kind of forum in which to articulate it. Anxiously waiting for your sequel to the Global Mind. Interesting stuff!
    In Lak’ech, Karen Majorowski

    1. Hello Karen,
The Global Mind is not something that is created by any human being. It is a divine structure and it is described by the true Mayan calendar and not by the Dreamspell. If people make up calendars just as they like, as Don Alejandro would say about Arguelles, without respect for the Mayan tradition it leads to divisiveness further down the line and blocks their ability to grasp the direction of creation.

      1. I fully resonate with all that was said in this film. For those of us who have been skerees of spiritual truth for many years, this seems to be the time for everything we have hoped and dreamed of to come into fruition.L&L,Lew Ross

  5. The truth for me is unavoidable. The Tzolkin can not be changed, and the Maya and all relations like Aztec all respected the alignments of the sacred codes that the 260 day calendar birthed from. However we are living in a different time from then and for the most part we are ignorant to our roots. We are all one big tree and our roots are being neglected which is causing all the discord but in time we will learn that we need to water our tree with a heart of truth, like being conscious of the true Tzolkin count of days that for thousands of years the Maya Daykeepers honoured in ceremony for each day, as the Sun arose. So as to keep an accord with Creations Divine Will. Best Sean Caulfield.

  6. Thank you for this very informative analysis, Dr. Calleman.

Where can one access the “true” Mayan Calendar, along with the understanding of how to interpret and use it in our daily lives?

I wonder what a potential “new world calendar” or “calendar of the future” based on the true Mayan Calendar might look like?

  7. hello Mr. Calleman,
A new world calendar based on the true Mayan Calendar is actually the old one as Cynthia said, but it should be connected with the I Tjing when we will better understand the world and ourselves and the holy mystery of this calendar. This is a hot item to discuss .Google: Sipp 9.0 Keep in mind to use only the real count of course and be critical for the rest of this website. The Mayan Calendar and The I Thing will also be a favorite update for Human Design! Did you ever heard of the I Tjing calendar combined with the Traditonal Mayancalandar? That is why it is time to organize a meeting and keep in mind I Tjing nr. 61.

    1. Hello Louis,
I write about the connection between the Mayan calendar and the I Ching (Ba Gua)
in my most recent book, but I would also be interested in hearing other view points on this,

  8. Thank you for this very informative analysis, Dr. Calleman.

    1. For the moment at least the web sites of Mayan calendar portal and Mayan Majix will give you enough information about the true Mayan tzolkin. The true tzolkin must be the basis for any world calendar as far as I can tell, but other than that this is something we will have to discuss including especially the Native American peoples in the time to come.

  9. We are all part of the ‘Universal Galactic Creation Matrix’, no matter how one chooses to dice it up, it all boils down that we are all a conglomeration of active, electric tetra-hedronal composites, also known as atoms and molecules. The Tzolkin doesn’t care whether or not you are a traditional count type, or a loose fitted aboriginal bohemian living on the periphery of society. I say quit trying to isolate the other side, drop your ego, and do what your heart moves you to do, and do it with love!

    1. The posting of my article was prompted by a discussion I have had with a number of Australian people,
who only know of the Dreamspell and hardly know that there exists a true Mayan calendar. They have been confused by the fact that it has been presented to them as if there were “two” different Mayan calendar. I believe
they have the right to know the truth and if nobody speaks it the truth will not appear as an option to them.
I am fully aware that today when someone makes a logical argument he or she will be accused of being guided
by his or her ego. Yet, we may wonder where would the world be now if no one spoke the truth?

  10. Dr. Calleman, I am most grateful for all of the timely & vitally important information you’ve given the world, for some time now, so that those of us who are deeply committed have an authentic Guide to serve us in this tremendous Journey of Awakening we’re presently experiencing. I’ve also been blessed & privileged to study & travel to sacred ceremonial sites with Barbara Hand Clow back in the 1990’s to prepare for what is currently unfolding here on Earth. It is through Barbara that I learned of your pioneering work with the true Mayan Calendar. The great joy of my having received teachings, readings & initiations from beloved Tata, Don Alejandro in Guatemala several years ago has further opened my consciousness as well as my heart in a profoundly new way! All 3 of you are beloved teacher/guides that we are very fortunate to have graced so many of our lives…Thank you form my heart to yours! In Lak’ech…

  11. THANK YOU, Dr. Calleman . . . You are freeing many people from yet another illusion that is unecessary baggage in this crucial time of great change.

Thank You, for having the courage to be clear and real about illuminating the difference between the actual Mayan Calendar, and the false–Thirteen Moon/Dreamspell Calendar (which historically, was never used by any Mayans!)

Some of the reaction to this revelation about the Mayan Calendar is due to this phenomena ::
We are evolving out of a Patriarchal Paradigm, which pretends to externalize the “Father Principle” within us, which is the internal sense of authority for our own Life. In this, human beings are still working with unconscious tendencies to project THE DIVINE onto something or someone outside – and even to look to something or someone outside, for ‘how to live’ and for making choices.

The spiritual world is still fraught with this Patriarchal tendency, as is the secular world. When we live according to any system, we are limiting ourselves, and THE DIVINE LIFE within us … to a mental construct that can never allow the true flight of the Great Spirit–Life.

All systems are limited ‘ladders’ in the mind.
Every system is limited, by definition. No system can hold the Divine Nature of Source, which is you and me, and the Life we live ~ NOW!

    Namaste!

  12. Personally I think your original ideas were correct; I think that all calendars stopped at October 2011, if by “calendars” something is meant beyond a mere clocking of the mechanical progress of time or a description of the planetary billiards of the heavens. I do think that Western astrology is accurate when done correctly, but there is no overall progress in that except on an individual level. It’s more like very predictable zodiac “weather” than anything in the same class as the Mayan calendar, or even the traditional Christian idea of the progress of time (Abraham, Jesus, End Times, etc.). So in a sense, whatever is thought of this erroneous moon calendar doesn’t really matter anymore.

It is the time of the woman, however, and perhaps that is sensed and was the impetus behind pushing this calendar. Not the time of the woman over man, but the time of the women gaining rightful equality with men. I think now is in general and permanently (since 2011) the time of rebalancing. So when things tip the right way, they do so suddenly and very unpredictably.

    From the Magnificat:

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

Basically I think that since 2011, a lot of money and effort has gone into propping up the pre-existing structures of power, but they have all become a house of cards and will come crashing down at the slightest breeze. And likewise on an individual level, if a person turns to personal enlightenment, progress will be rapid and the tools necessary for progress will magically appear. I guess in a sense you could say it has now permanently become the time of magic.

    1. I think you are making a very meaningful point is emphasizing that astrology by its very nature is cyclical and is not going anywhere. In contrast, as you point out, the view of the Abrahamic religions and many others as well, is that humanity has a destiny, the Return to the Garden of Eden and this is what the Mayan calendar still points out to us. Unfortunately, in so many modern systems of divination, whether astrological or the Dreamspell, this destiny is ignored or not understood. On my own part, I believe that we can only have a truly meaningful individual purpose of life as a part of this destiny of humanity at large. To see this connection is the best safeguard against focusing on our individual lives in an ego-like way.

  13. Hello Karl,

Just Read Karens Majorowski’s article: the only article that is telling truth here Carl. Basically she is telling that Arguelles’ work, and also Dreamspell Calendar, is a reality yet to be experienced by most people, like you for instance. She says exactly what I have been telling you, but with more scientifical background. Typical is your extremely poor, denying answer to her, coming up with what is not to the point here. Better quickly get this comment out of the list…..Lucas Mertens

  14. Hello Carl,

You should have a better look at Karen Majorowski’s comment.
On top of all my mails to you, I will give you here another response to your classic answer about the unvalidity, in your eyes, of the Dreamspell, because of the fact that it has never been used by the Mayans themselves. It is not a valuable argument that it cannot be called Mayan. I already told you that the Dreamspell is based on a prophecy in the Chilam Balam, and on the Calendar Round, a calendar that is still very much in use with the Mayans. If the Dreamspell hasn’t been used by the Mayans themselves, it simply is, not because it had no value for them( as is your interpretation), but because the time was not yet ready for its understanding, (even by the Mayans themselves) just as Karen Majorowski is suggesting: the collective consciousness of the planet was not yet ready for the understanding and use of the Dreamspell Count to be experienced. All these things were never recognised by Don Alejandro, who was first of all not from the Yucatecan tradition where the Dreamspell is derived from, and second was illiterate, unable to read Arguelles’ work. This same Don Alejandro you consistently use as your reference point for your interpretations.
A change however in the overall attitude in the Mayans, never mentioned by you, regarding their attitude towards the legacy of Jose Arguelles, especially since Don Alejandro left his job as their spiritual leader I believe, has already taken place, when Stephany South, successor of Jose Arguelles, was officially invited by Mayan Elders for the Celebrations for the 21 of december 2012 in Palenque. This can be interpreted that at least since then, the legacy of Jose Arguelles is recognised by at least a part of the Mayan Elders.
    Wake up Carl!

    1. I have not taken away any of your postings. Most of your comments last year were not sent to the blog, but to my personal email address and seemed primarily have as their purpose to bully me and so I did not think they were meant for the public. Your language is also often such that I do not necessarily think it is appropriate to publish on my blog. On my own part, I am not attacking any particular person, but am telling the truth about a particular calendar, the Dreamspell, especially since I have been asked about to explain why it exists alongside the true Mayan calendar. You, on the other hand some unwilling to discuss the origin and design of the Dreamspell calendar and why it was invented in the first place.
I will however respond to your suggestion that it would be a major argument of mine that almost none of the Mayan elders today would want to have anything to do with the Dreamspell. Even if it is true that one would be hardpressed to find any Mayan daykeeper who follows the Dreamspell and indeed the Mayan elders over the centuries have taken great pains to preserve the ancient tzolkin, the Dreamspell calendar would not be qualified as Mayan no matter if some contemporary Mayan elder, Stephanie South or you would say so. The Dreamspell tzolkin is simply not the one the Maya used in Classical times and have continued using up until the current time. No Mayan elder and no archeologist would say that the Dreamspell is a traditional Mayan calendar.
As I explained in my original article all the day-signs in the Dreamspell are instead the result of a modern invention and determined by the particular placement of the Gregorian leap day. This is true regardless of any personal opinions anyone might have about the Dreamspell and whether they like it or not. It is simply not a Mayan calendar as the Maya did not determine on what date the Gregorian calendar would have its leap day. For this reason, none of the Dreamspell day-signs are Mayan, but imposed on its followers by the Gregorian calendar and the 11 + 22 = 33 scheme for the birthdays of the Argüelles. This is a logical argument that can be understood by anyone, but again maybe difficult to face for someone who for a long time has believed that he is creating an alternative to the Gregorian calendar.
Because of your abusive language I will not post any further comments from you, who may never be willing to face the fact the Dreamspell was designed as a cult and that its design was kept secret to unsuspecting spiritual seekers. That its followers, unbeknownst to themselves, are giving their energy to the Argüelles’ through the number 33 does ring a strong bell of the hierarchical structure of freemasonry, where this is the number of its grand master. The fact that the Dreamspell followers and Argüelles himself primarily were part of an alternative culture made the dominance in this less visible, but the same power structure is operating within this cult.
Because of your abusive language I will not post any further comments by you, specially as I suspect that you may never be willing to discuss how the Dreamspell was designed and why it was invented to overshadow the true Mayan calendar to begin with. It is a tragedy for humanity that in many countries the Dreamspell, which in fact is a secret tool for manipulation of spiritual energies, in fact has been successful in overshadowing the ancient tradition. Those that are not telling the truth about the origin of the Dreamspell are in fact serving to keep people in the dark about the meaning and potential of the true Mayan calendar.
      Carl Johan Calleman

  15. Hello Karl,

Lets see if my comment passes your censoring.
If Karen Majorowski is refering to the Dreamspell as deficient, it is because she started studying your books first without knowing about the work of Jose Arguelles. When you study in that order, you will read also what you think about Arguelles and the Dreamspell, and naturally, if you find value in what you are saying, which I do, then you also take serious what you are saying about Arguelles and the Dreamspell. I am glad I did it the other way around.
Once you start to study the work of Jose Arguelles with an open mind and heart, and you are sensitive enough, you will simply know that there is a higher order and structure coming through in all of his work, just as Karen Majorowski says. You however, for some reason or another, started to see the Dreamspell as a threat to your Count, and that is why you divided his work and life up in two parts, the one that was non-threatening, and the one that was threatening.
You challenge Dreamspellers to find fault in your arguments against the Dreamspell or Jose Arguelles. Nobody is answering that challenge. Even I am not going to do that. The simple reason is that when you start doing that, you come at your level of arguing. It is not the Dreamspellers that have to prove to you the value of what they find in the Dreampell. All your arguments can so easily be discarded, but you do not want to see that. You prefer to stay in wrong and right. So be it. The only thing that can be said is that there is no, and there has never been a threat of your Count by the Dreamspell, neither a deficiency in the Dreamspell or a suppression of your Count by the Dreamspell.
Those who think like you, that there cannot exist more than one Mayan Count simultaneously, are denying that reality has many levels or dimensions. Both Counts represent different levels of realities. A very good synthesis of both Counts has already been made by Kees Visser in his book “De Tzolkin openbaart je potentieel”. ( in Dutch only for now, translated meaning “The Tzolkin reveals your potential”). A short explanation however is given in english on the authors website under the word “International”. His website is: http://www.1320em.nl

    1. Hello Lucas,
It has not at all been uncommon that self-proclaimed gurus, also in other contexts, create symbiotic relationships with their disciples that make them dependent and subordinated to his agenda of extracting energy from them. Many disciples in various purportedly spiritual contexts have witnessed about the abuses that have resulted. Argüelles essentially did the same thing through the power of the calendar, a power he was very much acquainted with. Yet, the very name Dreamspell in a sense says it all: Argüelles’ calendar puts a spell on its followers, who go into a trance based on a symbiotic relationship to himself, its creator, based on how his calendar was designed. Daily, thousands of people all over the world, still after the passing of the inventors of the Dreamspell calendar give their energy to these inventors. I have heard of cases in Germany where people have literally fainted when it has dawned upon them that the calendar they have given their energy for years, or even decades, is not the true calendar. To be deceived in this way, as many have, is not an easy thing to face.
How the symbiotic relationships of the Dreamspell works was however very well expressed in a meditation written by Argüelles for his followers:
“Again, here the sign of the return of the heavenly city Tollan, and over here the sign of the Star Traveler, the avatar – this time with signs of the Spectral Monkey, kin 11 and kin 22, which as we all know add up to 33. This is meditation 26 and we are entering the 33rd Harmony. Everything really is that psychedelic that we could be here explaining this to you, and that we are the numbers that talk and you are the numbers that listen, and we are all numbers together.”
In other words: the followers of the Dreamspell calendar will be caught in a psychedelic trance subordinating them to the numbers that talk, kin 11 and kin 22, while they themselves are to listen. Unless we are so utterly naïve that we think that José and Lloydine Argüelles just by accident got the kin numbers 11 and 22 in the calendar they invented this is the mechanism by which followers of the Dreamspell, usually completely unbeknownst to themselves, give energy to the Argüelles and remain dependent upon them even after their death. Naturally, there have always been people that want to subordinate their freedom to self-proclaimed Avatars who provide a sense of belonging (“we are all numbers together”) through some kind of symbiosis. This is typical of cults. A true Avatar would however not have kept his agenda secret to people the way Argüelles did. A true Avatar would have told the truth about how and why he changed the Mayan calendar and given his followers a free choice as to whether they wanted to worship him through the use of his calendar or not. The true Mayan calendar followed by the Maya for thousands of years, in contrast has no such “middle man” and allows its followers to directly connect with the divine energies of the tzolkin for guidance into the future.
To me, the true Mayan calendar is the better choice and I have no desire to be part of the Dreamspell cult or experience the trance given by following a Mayan calendar modified according to a hidden agenda. To me at least, the kind of covert authoritarianism that Argüelles practiced when designing the Dreamspell is the very opposite of what we should strive for when creating the future. How can a calendar based on a hidden agenda create a better world? Nonetheless, if other people want to give up their freedom, and their direct connection to the divine, by following the Dreamspell it is up to them, but only as long as they do not spread the lie that the Dreamspell is the Mayan calendar or a variation thereof. This lie is what has caused so much damage and blocked people’s access to the true Mayan calendar. It may also come to have very negative consequences for humanity further down the line since only the truth may set us free.
      Carl Calleman

  16. Hello Carl,

If you place only the non-threatening comments of mine, then this is not an honest and open interaction between us, of which you have prided yourself always. Only if you correct yourself by apologizing and placing them ALL, you can keep your face.
I am telling you: it has always been your sense of threat, which is very dubious and arbitrary, rather than your sense of truth that has provided you the stimulus to write about Arguelles and the Dreamspell.

  17. When we step beyond the world of duality, we begin to welcome unity! Separating systems as one better than another is a little like watching a catholic and a muslim go black and blue in their face defending ‘their’ GOD as the right one and them being the ‘chosen ones’. Beyond duality rests the unified field of oneness and ultimately no ‘tool’ is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ however, each tool can also be right for the one receiving it because it changes something within them bringing them closer to their true nature. The mind loves to debate and if we have enough ‘ammunition’ we can surely make a case for ourselves. This requires us only to gather some ‘facts and figures’ and that can then become the battle ground to present our case. I refuse to penalise Arguelles as someone who was on the ‘wrong’ path and who intentionally or unintentionally ‘invented his own calendar’ to mislead people. I have in time gained much insight from both of Arguelles and Calleman’s wisdom whom I believe are both wonderful individuals, who are contributing with something I am sure is of the essence. However in my view anything that does not ‘allow’ ‘include’ and ’embrace’ diversity is in itself a poor attempt of the mind to separate, dissect, divide, oppose and when teamed up with a few ‘facts’ it merely diverts from our true nature which is ‘inclusive’ and all loving. In any event a tool is just a tool and so long as we are stuck with the idea of the ‘tool’ we cannot lift ourselves beyond the ‘ideas’ that we need them. If we must really get pedantic then how about if time and space is an illusion where does the ‘real’ Mayan Calendar also fit in? Essentially I believe that if a tool can help an individual to open up to what within them is light and love then surely that tool has to have a place in the evolutionary process of that individual. So to say that the 13 moon calendar and the dream spell is not useful or incorrect, is somewhat a general view point that needs to be revised, because ultimately the only ‘truth’ is in the ‘experience’ that each and every one of us can open ourselves up to through that particular tool. Personally I have watched the eyes of many women and men that received a reading of the dream spell light up, and subsequently share with me the shift that occurred within their minds and heart was one of opening to an awareness that helped them navigate their lives with more balance and harmony. I have abandoned getting bogged down with theories of those who although have the gift to influence the masses are still divulging ‘separation’ ideas which to me are totally contradictory to being aligned with the heart of love and our true nature. So not to step on anyone’s toes here, I would simply say that the “proof is in the eating of the pudding”! And if for whatever reason it annoys that the pudding somebody else is eating may taste absolutely wonderful to them, and is instead offensive to you, then perhaps each one of us should really examine our ability to ‘let go’, because that is what it’s all about! And rather than criticise Arguelle’s work, I would go and examine what really happens to each precious Soul that chooses to open themselves up through this tool, and enjoy, appreciate, and perhaps acknowledge that if it is helping them, then it has it’s place. Ultimately we are ‘creative’ beings and fair to say that we are now being called to move away from ‘tradition’ for that is ‘condition’ and anything that proposes to be set in ‘concrete’ as the only ‘true way’ must be questioned! This playground ‘Earth’ is now open to the ‘creative’ provided it points back ‘home’ to unity ad love, and the more I examine the 13 moon calendar the more I have found that if I ‘undo’ the complicated idea of it and stick with the simplicity of it’s message the more I find it simply accurate, very relevant and absolutely spot on. So could it be that this is so, because we expand what we believe? And that in turn the only reality that exist is the one we Create for our selves? So if today for me its Blue Rhythmic hand and it is a day for personal healing and reordering ideas, thoughts and my daily affairs, and apply that and it works for me, what does it matter if it was some other sign? Do I have the right to judge and say that it is right or wrong? Lesson 25 in the Course in Miracles says “I DON’T KNOW WHAT ANYTHING IS FOR” can we live with that? Can any of us truly accept that maybe it’s time to ‘not know’ and simply ‘sense’ and ‘feel’ our way and ‘allow’ each one of us to evolve in whatever manner the Divine assigns to us, and trust the tools each one chooses is ‘right’ for them? I must then (if I truly trust this process) let this lesson of the Course, be my way to completely let go and know that ‘I don’t know what anything is for’ what about you do you really know? With much respect, love and reverence to all who are contributing to this blog Many Blessings and In Lack’ech especially to Carl Calleman who so creatively and passionately started this blog inviting transformation and transcendence from separation to unity…embracing you brother and thank you!

    1. Hello Elohisa,
I do not think I have ever questioned the right for someone to use the Dreamspell calendar if he or she so likes.
Some may experience it as useful and valuable, but are you saying that we should not say the truth about it? Shall we pretend that the Maya accept it as a legitimate calendar and shall we cover up that the Arguelles based it on their own birthdays? The reason the Mayan elders have been upset with it is that the Dreamspell has made claims that it is an authentic Mayan calendar. Don’t you think things that people consume should have an accurate description of its contents. These have also been the issues not whether some people appreciate the Dreamspell calendar or not.
      Best
      Carl

  18. Thank you for your comment Elohisa.
To summarize for everybody Calleman’s influence:
Calleman discovered the original blueprint of biological creation in time towards unity consciousness. There is much to learn about the Underworlds he discovered, and for the way to learn about them I recommend the july article 2015 on Barbara Hand Clow’s website http://www.handclow2012.com : A Pleiadian Channeling, under the News column
However, Calleman also brought much confusion on Jose Arguelles’ life and work and on the Dreamspell Count. The most crucial point to understand is that Calleman confuses the Divine with the blueprint he discovered. This is a serious misinterpretation and has lead to all the confusion.he created.
Anything that can be defined, including a system, theory, tool or blueprint, can never be the Divine, although it can be a way to learn to better harmonize with the flow of life and to better understanding of ourselves. Please remember the saying about the Tao: the Tao that can be told is not the Tao. As a result of Calleman’s misinterpretation, many of his followers tend to believe that Calleman is a spiritual or unity consciousness teacher. This is far off truth. He is a scholar, a scientist who became an expert in his field of research, but, like many scientists, never acknowledged the limitations of his own expertise. As a result of this he deemed himself capable of interpreting Arguelles’ life and work and explain why there are two Counts used worldwide based on the Tzolkin. His explanation and interpretation are just pure arrogance. The Tzolkin, and thus the Underworlds, based in the Tzolkin, is a universal creation matrix, which is a system or tool, not the Divine itself.
Calleman just followed the thread of the Long Count, pondered on the meaning of the Coba Stle and came to his brillant discoveries with his background as a biologist .He never revealed though how the Tzolkin came to be in this solar system, or what the cosmic forces were that created the Tzolkin, and what was the original idea behind the creation of the Tzolkin. Nor did the Mayans reveal this. Jose Arguelles however did reveal all this and much more in his book “The Arcturus Probe”. Calleman never has understood the difference of working method between Jose Arguelles and himself. His own was based on deciphering the Coba Stele and scientific rigor, while Arguelles worked with channeling or revelation. Because of Calleman’s prejudices against Arguelles’ way of going about work and life, and because of his own arrogant belief and conviction that his discoveries were the absolute Divine itself, he dismissed “The Arcturus Probe” and all of Arguelles’ later work as an egotrip, and judged him foolishly as someone who has lost faith in the Divine and put people on the wrong path. The truth is that Calleman has never been qualified to explain why there are two calendars used worldwide based on the Tzolkin. His articles on and analysis of the Dreamspell are nothing but his own judgements and projections.
I and many other Dreamspell-users like Elohisa, acknowledge Calleman’s contribution to the understanding of the time- mechanics of Creation by deciphering the Coba Stele, but the confusion, judgements and misinterpretations he spread on the Dreamspell also beckon to be acknowledged, and have to come to an end. To further this end, the name Calleman gave to the Count he discovered, the True Count, which only serves to create duality as opposed to the Dreamspell, has to be changed into a more appropriate name, for instance the Underworlds or the Coba Stele Count.

    1. The issue of what is the True Mayan tzolkin should not become a matter of personal issues.
The truth is that Jose Arguelles invented a calendar based on his own birthday and led large numbers of people to believe that this was the true Mayan calendar even though all Mayan elders as well as all archeologists deny this. The Maya have never used it and will never use the Dreamspell calendar.
These are facts, for which there really should not be any disagreement. Where we may disagree is rather how much damage this has caused. I would say substantial even though it probably did not occur like this to Arguelles at the time. I am not judging him as a person and presume he had a motive that he thought of as good. This does not change the fact that the Dreamspell is a false Mayan calendar however.

      1. It is only your interpretation that the Dreamspell is based on the birthdays of the Arguelles. Have you ever thought that it could be the other way around, that they discovered afterwards that the numbers 11 and 22 correspond to their birthdays? You put all the enfasis on this, and on the issue whether the Dreamspell is used by Mayans or not. These are outside factors and should not be focused upon as the main issue. To make this the main issue is clinging to tradition and outside circumstances. I never knew about this until you brought that up. But at the time I heard you saying this, I had experienced already enough of the benefits of working with the Dreamspell to know beyond doubt that it is truly a gift for humanity. as the Arguelles claim.
The Arguelles never claimed it has been used by the Mayans before. That is what you make of it to be able to accuse them of something. They even never claimed it to be Mayan as far as I know, although Dreamspell users may do so. It has nevertheless a Mayan knowledge base. That is what the Arguelles have rightly claimed. According to Peter Toonen, Dutch author of books on the Dreamspell and personal friend of Jose Arguelles when he was alive, Jose Arguelles said that the Tzolkin does not belong to the Mayans. It is universal creation matrix. I think this is a very accurate thing to say.
The Dreamspell has never brought any damage. It is a gift to humanity to move beyond the prison of tradition and get to know and live out its true unlimited potential as cosmic creator beings. It is sticking to tradition and science as the answers to life that damage is done. It is through that mirror that you have interpreted the Dreamspell and Jose Arguelles’ life and work. I do not mean to say that valuable traditions do not exist and should not be respected, but that to cling to tradition for the sake of security, response to or interpretation of life and circumstances, is what causes damage.

        1. We can be certain that Arguelles constructed the Dreamspell so that it would give him and Lloydine the master numbers 11 and 22. Why else remove the leap day? and break the flow of time. Why otherwise would he not have responded and explained what it was based on when he responded to me making public that it was based on their birthdays? The neither denied it or admitted it. People with hidden agendas keep things secret, Most importantly why did he not explain to Lloydine how the calendar had been designed? The answer is of course that he could not trust her to keep the truth secret. I think he was right there. My feeling is that after they got she divorced would have revealed the truth. All she could do was to pass away on a day that pointed to the true calendar.

There will however always be people who with an almost religious attitude fail to see the truth even if it is laid out plainly in front of them. Dealing with Dreamspellers had taught me that lesson, since I thought people would have a more critical and open mind in that group. They did not. Before he passed away Arguelles did however say that the system of Nine Waves had value. I suppose this will not mean much to people who simply refuse to see the truth, but if some Dreamspellers would listen to this it could lessen the damage this calendar has done to the world.

  19. Of course Jose Arguelles said that the Nine Waves had value. He was open to your work, as I am and many other Dreamspellers also are, but that does not mean that the Dreamspell is a false calendar. The reason that Jose Arguelles ( Lloydine Arguelles is a whole different case) did not respond to you is that they already had explained what the Dreamspell was based on.
Are you aware of the fact that Jose Arguelles said that the Dreamspell Count is based on a prophecy in the Chilam Balam, saying that the date 26 july 1987, should fall on a day 8 Ix? The Dreamspell Count is not for nothing also called the Whizzards ( = Ix) Count. The whizzard is the 14 th symbol of the 20 Mayan symbols. If you have read The Mayan Factor, you will know that it is a crucial symbol, because it stands between the second and third stage of human development, and is part of both stages. The first 7 symbols develop primary being. The second 7 symbols delve deeper into that being. The last 7 symbols, of which the whizzard is the first, bring the whole human potential to fruition. Together all the 20 Mayan symbols represent the full potential of a human being. The Whizzard Count is a possible tool for those who want to step beyond the box of fixed definitions to realize their full potential.
You will say of course that first Jose Arguelles based the Dreamspell on their birthdays, and then he made up the day 8 Ix to cover that up, or else you will say, as you have done, that the Prophecy has no value because the Chilam Balam was written after the conquest of the Spaniards. The truth is that the Dreamspell as Whizzards Count makes much sense if you consider the crucial meaning of the symbol of the whizzard in the development of a human being’s full potential, but of course not to somebody who only wants to find fault in Jose Arguelles.

    1. I am sorry, but this is not correct. There is no such text in the Book of Chilam Balam saying that July 26, 1987 would be 8 Ix. If there were you should be able to find it. For a critically thinking person it is absolutely clear that the Dreamspell count is based on the Gregorian calendar. The leap day that it ignores, February 28, is defined by the Gregorian calendar and all the so called Galactic signatures are based on ignoring this leap day. To the Maya it would have been unthinkable to leave a particular day out of the flow of time like the Dreamspell does as if it had no sacred energy. There would have been absolutely no reason to ignore the leap day if it were not for the fact that he needed to subordinate his calendar to him and Llondine having the master numbers 11 and 22. Only someone who is a completely blind follower will fail to see this, but he counted on people being exactly this like many religions do. The irony is that despite all the rhetoric in Dreamspell circles against the Gregorian calendar this is exactly what it is based upon. The rhetoric only served to cover it up.

  20. To be honest, I never read the Book of Chilam Balam. I suppose you did. There seem to be several versions. Have you read them all? I have no logical explanation for the absence( as you say there is) of the prophecy Jose Arguelles refers to in the Chilam Balam.
I never felt the need to read the Chilam Balam. I just followed my inner guidance, am glad to have done this and will always do so. Proof or confirmation of the power of the Dreamspell is in the experience.

    Lucas

  21. Sorry, I forgot one thing: the reason for the creation of the leap day in the Dreamspell, Lloydine Arguelles already explained to you in the E-mail exchange you had with her and put on Internet for everyone to read. Anyway, it seems you will always find reasons to debunk the later work of Jose Arguelles.

    Lucas

    1. Yes, you are right I always seek the truth. Arguelles simply knew that few people would actually go into the Books of Chilam Balam and find that there was nothing there to support his claims. Certainly nothing pointing to July 26, 1987 as 8 Ix. This energy like all galactic signatures comes from Pope Gregory deciding that February 28 would be the leap day every four years. If you want to follow a calendar originating in him and the Arguelles birthdates I have no problem with that as long as you do not call it Mayan because then you are really out of integrity,

  22. Congratulations Dr. Calleman for finally having found one single issue that you can put your finger on and has remained unclear ( at least for me) in the claims of Jose Arguelles!

    Best wishes, Lucas

  23. Just for the sake of completeness:
On page 266 of “2012: biography of a time traveler”, the first part of Jose Arguelles’ authorised biography, is written clearly:
“As a dispensation of time, the Dreamspell is pivoted to a correlation point, July 26 1987, kin 24: white galactic whizzard. This was the day Jose announced the coming of galactic culture at St. John’s College in Santa Fe”.
On page 230 in the same book this event is further described.
The Dreamspell is based on a prophecy of the Chilam Balam, but not the correlation date. This was based as described above.

    Lucas Mertens

  24. PS. As I read the full biography of Jose Arguelles only quite a while after all my earlier comments, I could not have mentioned this at that time. How the Dreamspell is based in the Chilam Balam de Chumayel is described in the first and second part of Jose Arguelles’ biography together: “2012: biography of a time traveler” and “Time, synchronicity and the calendar change”.
Jose Arguelles Valum Votan was always in the first place guided by his inner guidance, not by books, Mayan or other teachers.
For some, the idea of being fully guided by your inner guidance is unacceptable, but for awakened beings it is considered the most normal and natural way.

    Lucas

    1. Yes, if someone is truly guided by the divine it is a natural thing. This is what happened to the ancient Maya.
Arguelles “inner guidance” however led him to reject a many thousand year old tradition of an ancient people and replace it with a tzolkin count that “just happened” to be based on his and Lloydines birthdays.Any person looking at it objectively would suspect that this was a great ego trip of his. Many people paid the price as they were deluded into following a false calendar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_MKHqVsAlQ

  25. As Don Alejandro himself says at the end of the video: there are foreign books that may contain “cosas buenas”, but he does not know that when it is written in a language he does not speak or read. In the case of the Telektonon that was presented to him he completely contradicts his own words. If it was written in english, a language he does not know, he might remember his own words that it may contain “cosas buenas” of which he is not aware. Instead, without knowing the contenance, he throws it on the floor. On top of that it is not even written in english as he supposes it is. A double mistake of Don Alejandro. But no excuses for his behaviour have ever been seen from him.

    Lucas

    1. What Don Alejandro says here is that Jose Argüelles had no right to change the ancient Mayan calendar. He was absolutely right in this and the only explanation that has ever been provided for José changing this calendar is that it supported his ego to have a tzolkin that placed his own birthday in a special place. If anyone has some other explanation I would be curious to know.
Towards the end of his life Argüelles is known to have approved the nine wave model of the Mayan calendar (according to Eden Sky), but unfortunately the people that followed him is still stuck with a calendar that is not authentic Maya and so little or nothing has been done in the Dreamspell community to move forward to a Nine-wave model, which leads into the destiny of humanity. If Dreamspellers want to play a part in the future as carriers of any aspect of the Mayan calendar an explanation must thus be provided and agreed upon as to why this calendar was changed at its core, the tzolkin. Otherwise the confusion that Don Alejandro mentions will only continue. Keeping things hidden does not work in our own time.
